Easy to operate, this handicap, wheelchair-accessible van from BraunAbility® boasts unparalleled maneuverability, the most spacious interior of any competitor, and numerous advanced features like a single-touch power entry and exit system; power sliding doors; power wheelchair ramp; automatic kneeling system (which helps reduce ramp angle); removable front seats to allow for up-front passenger or from-the-wheelchair driving.

However, in addition to the features of the wheelchair conversion itself, the Chrysler Pacifica chassis features some of the most cutting-edge safety and convenience features available in any minivan today! Click here for additional buying tips.

Fully-Automatic Sliding Door And Power In-Floor Wheelchair Ramp

On the Power In-floor Chrysler Pacifica wheelchair-accessible van, the vehicle’s sliding side doors and ramp are full-power for convenience and ease of use. By activating the open or close command on the vehicle’s factory key fob or using the numerous interior switches, the door will open or close and deploy or stow the onboard handicap ramp. Are you concerned about power loss? Don’t be! In the event of power failure, the wheelchair ramp features an integrated backup system that can be used to operate the ramp manually.

The ramp on the in-floor Chrysler Pacifica handicap van is 52 inches long and 32.25 inches wide, the widest ramp of all its competitors! Plus, it’s made of lightweight aluminum and has a load capacity of 1000 pounds. The ramp’s surface is powder-coated with durable, non-skid material and features a slotted finish that ensures superior traction and works to reduce onboarding debris.

Auto Suspension Kneeling Feature

To reduce the wheelchair ramp angle, making it easier for a wheelchair user, especially a manual wheelchair user, to enter and exit the vehicle, every power, BraunAbility® handicap vehicle & wheelchair-accessible van features a fully-automatic, integrated suspension “kneeling” system. This system engages when the ramp deploy command is given. Once this command is given, the onboard computer activates an electric actuator mounted on the vehicle’s rear passenger-side suspension. This actuator lowers the wheelchair van ramp-side closer to the ground, thus reducing the ramp angle to only 9.9 degrees. This option can also be turned off with a switch on the dash for situations that aren’t necessary, such as loading and exiting to curbs or an elevated surface.

Lowered Floor Wheelchair Van Conversion

As part of the conversion process in a wheelchair-accessible van or handicap vehicle, the floor is lowered. In this case, the floor is lowered 14 inches from the firewall (just behind the engine) to the rear axle. This floor lowering does two things in the Pacifica: First, it creates a taller door entry height of 55 inches to allow for the entry of taller wheelchair users. Second, it provides a wheelchair user with a direct line of sight while driving or riding as a passenger.

Removable Wheelchair Van Seating

Removable front seats come standard on the BraunAbility® In-floor, Pacifica handicap-accessible van. They are easily removed to allow access for a wheelchair user to either drive from their wheelchair or ride as a passenger up-front. The seats are removed by unlocking them at the base and rolling them away for easy storage.
