Types of Scooter Carriers & Wheelchair Lifts For Your Vehicle

1. Platform Lift & Carrier

Platform wheelchair lifts and scooter carriers for cars, trucks, vans, SUVs & RVs are available in internal and external models. Harmar, Bruno, and other manufactures make these types of lifts.

This is the easiest type of lift or carrier to operate.

How a Platform Lift Works:

First, a user drives their mobility scooter or power wheelchair onto the lift platform.
Second, they exit the mobility device and secure it to the platform using the supplied securement system.
Finally, depending upon the model of the wheelchair or scooter carrier, their mobility equipment is then lifted and stored either outside or inside a vehicle’s rear hatch.

2. Hoist Lift

The hoist-style lift looks and works like a small crane. Hoist lifts are ideal for smaller mobility scooters & power wheelchairs. They are designed for ease of use and for users who need additional interior space inside their vehicles while transporting their mobility equipment.

How a Hoist Lift Works:

First, the user attaches the end of the lifting strap to their mobility equipment.
Second, the user activates the lifting mechanism using an attached pendant, lifting their mobility equipment to the appropriate height.
Finally, depending on the model of the lift, the mobility equipment is then swung inside the vehicle either manually or under the lift’s power.
