The Power Fold-Out XT (Extra Tall), Chrysler Pacifica wheelchair-accessible van from BraunAbility®, is a game-changer in wheelchair-accessible vehicles and is the replacement for the Chrysler Town & Country. Newly engineered with advanced mobility technology, the Braun Pacifica wheelchair van features the most interior space, the widest door opening, and the widest ramp of any other mobility van in its class.
Chrysler Pacifica XT mobility vans are the go-to option for taller wheelchair users and those who may have a little wider wheelchair. They feature a 57-inch door opening height, a 32.375-inch functional door opening width, and a 30.125-usable ramp width.
Easy to operate, this handicap-accessible wheelchair van boasts unmatched maneuverability, the most spacious interior of any competitor, and numerous advanced features like a single-touch power entry and exit system; power sliding doors; power wheelchair ramp; automatic kneeling system (which helps reduce ramp angle); removable front seats to allow for up-front passenger or from-the-chair driving by the wheelchair user. On the side entry, BraunAbility® Power Fold-Out XT Chrysler Pacifica handicap-accessible vehicle, the vehicle sliding side doors, and the ramp are both full-power for convenience and ease of operation. By activating the open or close command on the vehicle’s factory keyless remote or using various interior switches, the door will open or close and deploy or stow the onboard ramp. The wheelchair ramp features an integrated backup system that operates the ramp manually in a power failure.
The ramp on the Pacifica handicap van is 52 inches long and 30.125 inches wide, the widest of all its competitors, and it is made of lightweight aluminum with a load capacity of up to 1000 pounds. The ramp’s surface is powder coated with a durable, non-skid texture and slotted to reduce debris accumulation.
This handicap van features a fully automatic, integrated kneeling system to reduce the wheelchair ramp angle and make it easier for a wheelchair user to enter and exit the vehicle. When the deploy ramp command is initiated, the onboard computer activates an actuator mounted on the rear passenger side of the vehicle’s suspension. Once engaged, this actuator lowers the wheelchair-accessible vans’ ramp side, reducing the ramp angle to only 8.6 degrees. This reduction in ramp angle is key to making it easier for wheelchair users to enter and exit the vehicle, especially manual wheelchair users. This kneeling option can also be turned off through a switch on the dash for situations that aren’t necessary to engage.
As part of the wheelchair van conversion process, the floor on the Power Fold-Out XT Chrysler Pacifica wheelchair-accessible van is lowered 14 inches from the firewall (just behind the engine) to the rear axle. This lowering of the floor does two things: First, it allows for a taller door entry height of 57 inches to allow a taller, seated wheelchair user to enter without hitting their head. Second, it provides a wheelchair user with a more direct line of sight while driving or riding as a passenger. (For a standard door opening height, see the Power Fold-Out model)
Standard on the Fold-Out XT Chrysler Pacifica handicap-accessible van, the front seats are easily removable, allowing a wheelchair user to drive from their chair or ride as a passenger upfront. The seats are easily unlocked at the base and rolled away for easy storage. There are even cup holders that can easily be removed or used.
