On the BraunAbility Power Fold-Out XT, the Dodge Caravan wheelchair van, the vehicle sliding side doors, and the ramp are both powered for ease of operation. By activating the open or close command on the vehicle’s factory key-less remote or using interior switches, the door will open or close and deploy or stow the onboard ramp. The ramp can be easily operated manually in the event of power failure.

All BraunAbility Power Fold-Out XT Dodge Caravan wheelchair-accessible vans feature an automatic, integrated “kneeling” system to reduce ramp angle and make it easier to board. When a deploy ramp command is initiated, the onboard computer activates an actuator mounted on the vehicle’s rear passenger side. Once engaged, the actuator lowers the van’s ramp side, thus reducing the ramp angle. This option can also be turned off or on with a switch on the dash.
As part of the conversion process, the floor of the BraunAbility Power Fold-Out XT Dodge Caravan wheelchair van is lowered up to 14 inches from the firewall (just behind the engine) to the rear axle. Standard on the BraunAbility Power Fold-Out XT, Dodge Caravan wheelchair-accessible van, the front seats of the van are easily removed to allow access for a wheelchair user to either drive from his or her chair or ride as a passenger up-front. The seats are easily unlocked at the base, rolled away for easy storage, and can be reinstalled anytime.
