BraunAbility, Dodge Caravan, Power Fold-Out XT Handicap, Wheelchair Accessible Van For Sale
Dodge Caravan – Handicap, Wheelchair Van
Based on the same platform as the Dodge Power, the XT model features the largest door opening in its class thanks to its 14-inch lowered floor. This is the go to option for taller wheelchair users who need a taller door opening to enter and exit the vehicle. The door opening on the XT wheelchair van is 56.5 inches.
Easy to operate, this handicap accessible wheelchair van boasts a spacious interior and numerous advanced features like: single-touch power entry and exit system, power sliding doors, power wheelchair & scooter ramp, automatic kneeling system (which helps reduce ramp angle), and removable front seats to allow for up-front passenger or from-the-chair driving.
Fully Automatic Sliding Door and Wheelchair Ramp
On the Dodge, Power XT wheelchair van, the vehicles sliding side doors and ramp are both power for ease of operation. By activating the open or close command on the vehicles factory key-less remote or use of interior switches, the door will open or close and deploy or stow the on-board ramp. In an event of power failure, the ramp can be easily operated manually.
The ramp on the Power XT, handicap accessible van is 29.25 inches wide and is made of lightweight aluminum with a load capacity of 1000 pounds. The ramps surface is power coated with a durable non-skid, slotted finish that ensures superior traction and reduces the accumulation of debris.
The lightweight aluminum ramp extends to allow easy access to the interior for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. A durable, non-skid powder-coated finish ensures superior traction, and the slotted surface helps to prevent your chair from tracking debris into your wheelchair van. In the event of power failure, the ramp can be operated manually.
Auto Kneeling Feature
In an effort to reduce ramp angle and make it easier to board, all power, BraunAbility® wheelchair accessible vans feature an automatic, integrated “kneeling” system. When a deploy ramp command is initiated, the on-board computer activates an actuator that is mounted on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Once engaged, the actuator works to lower the vans ramp side, thus reducing ramp angle. This option can also be turned off or on with a switch on the dash.
Lowered Floor Conversion
As part of the conversion process, the floor of the Dodge Grand Caravan, Power XT wheelchair van is lowered up to 14 inches from the firewall (just behind the engine), to the rear axle. This lowering of the floor does two things: First, it allows for a taller door entry of 56.5 inches to allow for easy entry. Second, it provides a wheelchair user a direct line of sight while either driving or riding as a passenger. (For a shorter door height, see Power Fold-Out wheelchair van)
Standard on the, Power XT wheelchair accessible van, the front seats of van are easily removed to allow access for a wheelchair user to either drive from his or her chair or ride as a passenger up-front. The seats are easily unlocked at the base and rolled away for easy storage, and can be reinstalled anytime.
