The all-new Chrysler Voyager is the replacement for the Dodge Grand Caravan that is being phased out in 2020. The Chrysler Voyager minivan is built from the Chrysler Pacifica chassis and is Chrysler’s newest, entry-level minivan chassis.
Thank you Dodge for the many years of service you gave our industry with your Dodge Grand Caravan chassis! It’s hard to see Dodge’s longest running nameplate end production after so many years of dependable service.
The VMI Northstar-E, Chrysler Voyager wheelchair accessible conversion features their exclusive Access360 interior design. Some of the standout features of the new Chrysler Voyager handicap accessible van is its: 29.3-inch door opening width; 56-inch door opening height and a full 30-inch wide manual in-floor wheelchair ramp that’s rated at a whopping 1000 lbs. capacity!
Built with the caregiver in mind, the wheelchair ramp on the VMI Northstar-E, Chrysler Voyager wheelchair van is manually operated using VMIs patented ramp-on-a-stick design which allows for easy, reliable deployment. In fact, the manual ramp-on-a-stick ramp system is just the system you are looking for if traveling with a caregiver; it’s faster to deploy; requires less maintenance and upkeep; vehicle conversions are less expensive to manufacture; and the ramp stores out-of-sight inside the floor of the vehicle, offering an obstruction-free side entrance and more interior space.
Note: At this time, VMI will only be producing their wheelchair accessible Northstar-E Conversion using the Voyager LXi chassis.
The VMI Northstar-E, Chrysler Voyager wheelchair van features a power-operated, siding side-door with a manually operated in-floor wheelchair ramp system. The door can be easily operated by using either the factory key-fob or any of the many interior switches located throughout the cabin. The door can also be operated manually as needed.
The manual wheelchair ramp on the Chrysler Voyager handicap accessible vehicle is 30-inches wide and made from a lightweight, aluminum alloy that provides up to a 1000 lbs. loading capacity. The ramp also features a durable, textured finish that aids in traction for both the wheelchair user and his/her caregiver. When not in use, the ramp stows out-of-site under the main-floor of the cabin creating more interior space for all and an unobstructed entry-way for ambulatory passengers. In addition, the floor of the Northstar-E Conversion from VMI is made from Galvanneal Steel, a VMI exclusive that reduces the chance for rust and corrosion by providing superior protection against subjected elements.
The front passenger seat on the new VMI Northstar-E, Chrysler Voyager mobility van is easily removed to provide obstacle-free front seating for the wheelchair user. This feature, along with optional 2nd-row seating options, allows the Chrysler Voyager Northstar-E to be configured for many types of seating needs including multiple wheelchair transport as the sample seating diagram below shows.
