Quiet Drive™ is an advanced noise reducing process that is exclusively found on the full line of BraunAbility® wheelchair van conversions after 2012. This advanced design works to reduce road noise and vibration up to 25% of previous models. Using state-of-the-art techniques and advanced acoustic materials, BraunAbility’s Quiet Drive™ enhances the driving experience by blocking unwanted noise at the source from entering the interior of the vehicle.

Fully Automatic Sliding Door And Accessible Wheelchair Ramp

On the Dodge Power Fold-Out, the vehicles sliding side doors and ramp are both power for ease of operation. By activating the open or close command on the vehicles factory keyless remote, or use of interior switches, the door will open or close and deploy or stow the onboard ramp. In an event of power failure, the ramp can be easily operated manually.

The ramp on the Power Fold-Out is 29.25 inches wide and is made of lightweight aluminum with a load capacity of 1000 pounds. The ramps surface is power coated with a durable non-skid, slotted finish that ensures superior traction and reduces the accumulation of debris. 

Auto Kneeling Feature

In an effort to reduce ramp angle and make it easier to board, all power BraunAbility® Power Fold-Out handicap vans feature an automatic, integrated “kneeling” system. When a deploy ramp command is initiated, the on-board computer activates an actuator that is mounted on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Once engaged, the actuator works to lower the vans ramp side, thus reducing ramp angle. This option can also be turned off or on with a switch on the dash.

Lowered Floor

As part of the conversion process, the floor of the Dodge Grand Caravan Power Fold-Out is lowered up to ten inches from the firewall (just behind the engine), to the rear axle. This lowering of the floor does two things: First it allows for a taller door entry of 52.5 inches to allow for unobscured entry and exit. Second, it provides a wheelchair user a more natural direct line of sight while either driving or riding as a passenger. (For a taller door height opening, see XT model)

Removable Seating

Standard on the Power Fold-Out, the front seats of van are easily removed to allow access for a wheelchair user to either drive from his or her chair with the assistance of hand controls, or ride as a passenger up front. The seats are easily unlocked at the base and rolled away for easy storage, and can be reinstalled anytime.

This entry level conversion features a center section lowered floor that is designed to provide wheelchair users ample headroom and adjusted line of site while riding.

The ramp on the CompanionVan® Fold-Out handicap van is operated manually and is 30 inches wide. It is made up of lightweight aluminum and has a load capacity of 800 pounds. The ramps surface is power coated with a durable non-skid, slotted finish that ensures superior traction and aids in the removal of debris.

This lowering of the floor does two things: First it allows for a taller door entry to allow for unobscured entry. Second, it provides a wheelchair user a direct line of sight while riding as a passenger.

This is the go to option for taller wheelchair users who need a taller door opening to enter and exit the vehicle. The door opening on the XT is 56.5 inches.

The Dodge Grand Caravan Power In-Floor is BraunAbility’s in-floor ramp model. With an in-floor ramp system, the ramp is stored and deploys from the floor of the vehicle and is not visible with stowed away. Spacious enough to accommodate the entry and exit of wheelchair users sitting up to 55 inches, this stow n’ go ramp system is a breeze to operate. With no ramp blocking the entry of the doorway, access for passengers to the third row seating remains unobstructed.

For night time use, this ramp features an LED lighting system, which when deployed, lights the ramps surface for increased safety and maneuverability about the cabin. In addition to its unique in-floor ramp design, the power in-floor wheelchair van still features BraunAbility’s long list of standard features: single touch power entry and exit system, power sliding doors, automatic kneeling system (which helps reduce ramp angle making it easier to enter and exit the vehicle), and removable front seats to allow for up-front passenger or from-the-chair driving. The ramps surface is power coated with a durable non-skid, slotted finish that ensures superior traction and aids in the removal of debris. The ramp has a length of 52 inches and a ramp angle of 11 degrees.

Lowered Floor

As part of the conversion process, the floor of the Dodge Grand Caravan CompanionVan Plus® XT is lowered from just behind the firewall to the rear bench seat, and provides 87.5 inches, front to back, of overall floor space. This lowering of the floor does two things: First it allows for a taller door entry to enhance entry and exit; 52.5 inches on the standard model or 56.5 inches on the XT model.
