Edit

When it comes to the types of automotive hand controls, the Push/Rock type is probably the most popular. The unique design eliminates contact with an occupant’s knees or legs at higher rate of travel, allows for more applicable installations by fitting into tighter spaces, and reduces driver’s fatigue.

How They Work

The system works using a vertically installed handle for easy grip, and can be installed on either the right or left of the steering wheel. The operator pulls the handle back toward themselves for acceleration and away toward the dash for braking. However, the movement is more of a rocking motion than a pull and push. This rocking motion is what makes this type of easier to operate by creating a smaller range of motion. This is the aspect that decreases driver fatigue, while increasing throttle response and range of braking.
